Harry and Meghan seemed to hit it off with the family

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared “tears of joy” as they paid a heartfelt surprise visit to the sister of a teacher who was 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed in a school shooting.

Brave Irma Garcia, 48, gave her own life to save her young students during the massacre at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, that left 21 dead. Two days later, Irma’s husband Joe tragically died from a broken heart. John, the 22-year-old nephew of Irma, posted pictures of the royals’ visit to social media, expressing his amazement at the Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍es’ “loving and supportive” behavior.

He claimed that Harry and Meghan “fit right in” and that having them around “felt like having family and friends over.” According to John, the couple also gave his mother a birthday cake surprise. Videos showed a radiant Meghan holding the white desert and grinning warmly.

The Garcias said the royal pair seemed like family

Standing in the kitchen with their family, she and Harry lead the singing as they joined the touching moment. When Meghan said, “with everyone singing too,” a family member retorted, “It’s you first and then we’ll go after!” Meghan had just lit the candles on the cake and started the countdown to sing happy birthday.

The 42-year-old Duchess wore gold jewelry with her long-sleeve top and black skinny jeans. With her spouse Prince Harry grinning in the background, the actress seemed quite happy as she gave John’s mother the adorned gateau.

John said the royal pair has kept the Garcia family in their hearts since the horrific shooting, checking in once every other month.

“They keep in touch every other month, sometimes a little longer, but with their busy lives, them visiting truly felt more special,” he said.

Meghan visited Uvalde two days after the massacre, paying her respects to the victims and honouring 10-year-old Uziyah Garcia’s tribute site with a bouquet of white roses tied with a purple ribbon.

A Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍 spokesperson said Meghan showed up there unannounced to privately offer condolences. It has been an eventful weekend for the Dutchess of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍. This week, Meghan flew out to Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest Festival to speak about the connection between social media and mental health issues for young girls.

Taking part in the opening day keynote “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen, the royal underscored how the prevalent nature of social media is distorting teenage girl’s image of themselves.

She asserted that constantly scrolling through your feed deteriorates one’s mental health, especially for young women.

She waltzed onto stage in beautiful silk attire as she spoke about feminism. The outfit was pretty chic and was made up of a slightly oversized, loose fitting silk blouse that she tucked into a flowing skirt.

The conversation became more personal once Meghan started speaking about the cyber bullying she underwent while she was pregnant with her two children – Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2.

“The bulk of the bullying and abuse that I was experiencing in social media and online, was when I was pregnant with Archie and with Lili,” Meghan said. “And you just think about that and really wrap your head around what people would be so hateful. It’s not catty, it’s cruel, why you would do that? Certainly when you’re pregnant and you have a newborn,” she went on, touching on how it’s a tender and sacred time.

“You can either succumb to it, or nearly succumb to how painful that is, and maybe in some regards because I was pregnant that mammalian instinct just kicked in. Everything you can to protect your child, and as a result protect yourself too,” the Duchess added.
