The fourth season of The Boys, one of the most popular superhero shows on television globally, began broadcasting on June 13, 2024. The current season is full of heated moments, and it remains Certified Fresh despite being hammered in reviews by outraged viewers who object to the new season’s political connotations.
The season has been full of interesting moments, some more controversial than others, but a recent scene has piqued the interest of many fans, who are curious about what happened and who they saw on screen, which is why we’ve decided to look into the matter for you.
The scenario is actually a naked scene involving Starlight, who is currently in the spotlight for a variety of plot reasons, but not in the way you might expect. A sequence with her naked may be seen, and people are questioning if it was her on screen or a body double.
So, the scenario did not entail full frontal nudity, but it did reveal Starlight nude from the back, as you can see in the following video:

The moment and Starlight’s entire mini-plot in this episode aroused a lot of criticism since – spoilers coming – the Shapeshifter (name and actual identity unknown at the time of writing) has taken over the story. The Shapeshifter has appeared as an anonymous woman, Karen, the shady man, and, most recently, Starlight, as portrayed by actress Erin Moriarty.
The Shapeshifter shared an intimate moment with Hughie as Starlight, and the scene above shows what happened after. As far as whether it was Erin Moriarty on the screen or a body double, we couldn’t find any info that it was anyone else, so we can assume – until the producers confirm otherwise – that it was, indeed, Erin Moriarty on screen, but it wasn’t actually Starlight, but rather the Shapeshifter.
In case you’re worried about how to identify the Shapeshifter when compared to the original character they are mimicking, episode director Catriona McKenzie provided us with a hint:
Erin’s so amazing. We talked about her physicality, we talked about her eyes, and we talked about a stillness because the Shifter doesn’t have the same kind of emotional, intuitive, emotional intelligence that Annie does. And we’ve seen that in the episode; there was just a stillness that she brought to her performance where she’s just a bit more robotic. It was fun working that up with her.
And she’s a natural. Basically, everything’s the opposite of what she’s developed, and she just moved away from her instincts. I think, as a director, it’s more and more about the subtleties of working with actors and working on characters that I find brings such pleasure. The minutia of performative detail is where I think is the goal is, and I love that moment when she gets out of bed and walks past Huey. She walks over to the safe, and you just know we’re in for a ride.

This also seemingly confirms that it was Moriarty playing the role, which is, as we’ve said, what we’re going with until the producers confirm otherwise.
