Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark recorded the first triple-double by a WNBA rookie during Saturday’s win over the New York Liberty.
Clark finished the game with 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds in 38 minutes played.
Considering the historic performance Clark produced, it’s easy to forget fellow rookie Angel Reese went off Friday night during the Chicago Sky’s win over the Seattle Storm.
“Chi Barbie” scored a career-high 27 points to go along with 10 rebounds in the 88-84 win. It was her 12th consecutive double-double, which also set a WNBA record.
Reese wants to remind fans that she, too, is a WNBA record-breaker.

Reese reposted an X post from the Chicago Sky in the wake of Clark’s performance that wrote, “Record setter. THE front runner.”
Reese and the Sky asserting that she’s “THE front runner” is a clear dig at Clark. The two are considered neck and neck for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year honor.
There’s still plenty of time for either rookie to set herself apart from the other in this thrilling Rookie of the Year race.
We look forward to seeing what Reese will do against the Storm on Sunday.
