Chicago Sky Coach Sends Message to Angel Reese on Necessary Improvement

The Chicago Sky recently named Tyler Marsh the head coach of the organization following the firing of Teresa Weatherspoon.

A few weeks after Marsh’s hiring, he joined the media for his introductory press conference. During Tuesday’s press conference, Marsh was asked about 2024 rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso.

He mentioned that both players are the “cornerstones” of the franchise.

While Marsh mentioned that they’re already extremely s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed and proved their talent during their rookie season, he believes the film room will be the next step in their development.

”It’s not just player development,” Marsh said. “It’s time in the film room. We want Kamilla and Angel to be good at what they do already but we also want them to score easily.”

After mentioning that time in the film room will be a priority for the team, in particular for Reese and Cardoso, Marsh explained that Chicago needs to produce at a high level from the bottom of their bench to the top of the lineup.

“We want to be good 1-12,” Marsh added.

During Reese’s rookie season with the Sky, the 6-foot-3 forward averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.

She led the WNBA in average rebounds and finished the year at No. 2 in Rookie of the Year voting behind Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

Cardoso also had a phenomenal year with the Sky in 2024. The 6-foot-7 center averaged 9.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Chicago’s young stars helped lead the team to a 13-27 record, ending the regular season as the No. 10 team in the WNBA standings.
