‘I honestly haven’t found anyone!’: Anthony Joshua, 30, reveals he hasn’t had a girlfriend ‘for a while’ and admits it would be ‘nice to have someone’.

Anthony Joshua has admitted that he hasn’t had a girlfriend ‘for a while’ and that it would be nice to ‘have someone’.

The world heavyweight boxing champion, 30, blamed his busy career as a successful sports star and work-life balance for his single status.

Anthony, who is already a doting father to four-year-old JJ, told The Sun: ‘I think you can date and still be a successful sportsman but it’s hard to find a balance and I would have to compromise — which I’ve not felt able to do.

‘My dad never gave me advice about much. But in terms of relationships what I have learnt and what I tell my son is, it would be nice to find a high school sweetheart and to grow together because as you get older you get set in your ways…

‘I don’t have a girlfriend and I haven’t had one for a while. But as I get older I do think it would be nice to have someone, someone to grow with as well — but I honestly haven’t found anyone.’

He went on to say that he needs a partner who he can take home to his mum, is family-orientated and down to earth.

Anthony’s boxing career is currently on hold as he spends time at his Watford home amid the coronavirus lockdown.

He initially embraced the chance to home school his son but has since suggested that he has struggled to keep JJ’s attention.

It comes after Anthony left viewers in stitches when he had grated cheese on his abs during his appearance on Saturday Night Takeaway earlier this year.

The sportsman was pretending to be on the lookout for a new personal chef and interviews several cooks during the Ant and Dec’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Out Of Me Ear challenge.

Wearing an ear piece and being instructed with what to say by Ant and Dec, Anthony was told to ask one chef to use a block of Cheddar cheese on his toned torso.

Anthony was goaded on by Dec to tell chef Yvette: ‘You know what somebody said to me the other day? That cheese could be grated on my abs.’

When he asked Yvette if they ‘should try it’, she burst out laughing but then happily obliged as the heavyweight champion lifted up his shirt to show his rippling torso.

He told Yvette to ‘really go for it’ after her first attempt, and Ant and Dec shouted ‘she did it’ in delight after she successfully grated some of the cheese.
