Anthony Joshua reveals Tyson Fury has blocked him on Twitter as he continues to revel in victory over Alexander Povetkin

Anthony Joshua has mocked heavyweight rival Tyson Fury after revealing that he has been blocked by him on Twitter.

Joshua secured a dramatic seventh-round knockout victory over the awkward Alexander Povetkin at Wembley on Saturday night.

The win quickly led to discussions over his next opponent, with Fury, Deontay Wilder and Dillian Whyte the front-runners.

And Joshua took to Twitter on Sunday to let fans know that he can no longer see Fury’s tweets.

‘Why so serious?’ he wrote alongside a screenshot of the app letting him know he had been blocked.

Joshua’s promoter Matchroom Boxing replied saying ‘us too’ with a screenshot of their own.

Joshua has responded to criticism from Fury by claiming he is happy to fight the lineal heavyweight champion after his fight against Deontay WIlder.

Fury had posted an Instagram video criticising Joshua in the wake of his knockout win at Wembley, claiming the pair would never fight.

Yet Joshua insisted he was open to the match-up once Fury feels he is ready to take him on.

Joshua said: ‘I’ll fight fury if he’s ready, but as he’s said he’s not

Joshua has insisted he is happy to fight the lineal heavyweight champion

‘Good luck to him with his fight against wilder, if he changes his mind in future he knows where we are.

lWe are in the same division, the same weight, the same time, same era so we have to fight, it would be silly not to. Give it time and it will happen.

‘It’s not going to be hard to find an opponent

‘We know the top names, we know the running order, so whoever is interested will step up.

‘Some people are out here looking for dates and ringing promoters and not getting dates

‘I know there will be a lively opponent ready to take the opportunity.’

Tyson Fury posted a video shortly after Anthony Joshua’s win over Alexander Povetkin

Neither the reigning IBF, WBO, WBA and IBO heavyweight world champion nor his promoter Eddie Hearn mentioned Fury as a potential opponent after the fight.

Fury, nicknamed The Gypsy King, had taken exception to this, criticising Joshua’s performance and claiming he would easily defeat him.

Fury said: ‘I think it’s safe to say now that not Team Joshua or Matchroom Boxing will ever fight the Gypsy King. Never.

‘They mentioned if it’s not Wilder it’ll be Whyte, no mention of Tyson Fury the lineal heavyweight champion of the world. It’s alright fighting men who are 39-year-old or half your size.’

Fury also named Wilder as the best heavyweight currently fighting, with the pair due to meet on December 1 in Las Vegas although a venue has yet to be decided.

Fury added: ‘Tonight is pure evidence that I’m fighting the best heavyweight out there in Deontay Wilder. Joshua is not even close.

‘He is slow, methodical, and ponderous at times. Powerful yes, but they all are. It is obvious to see.

‘Avoid me at all costs. If I were you Anthony Joshua, I’d avoid me because I will jab your face off you bum. Can’t box, jab your nut in, easy night’s work. I’ve never seen a bigger bum in my life.’

In the comment next to the video, Fury accused Joshua and his team of robbing fans of ‘Britain’s biggest fight’ by not agreeing a contest.

He said: ‘Think it’s now safe to say AJ & his team are a pack of s******** & will rob the British boxing fans of Britons biggest fight.’

The 28-year-old champion has already started his recovery following the Wembley victory
