Brian O’Neill was vocal in wanting the Vikings front office to make a Kirk Cousins return happen. Despite his best efforts, Cousins is now in Atlanta, and O’Neill is getting ready to block for a whole new backfield but at running back and under center.

Despite the departure of Cousins, O’Neill seemingly still wants both the best and worst for his former quarterback, depending on the situation.

“It’s the same as any other teammate who moves on. You call them and wish them well and hope they play bad when they play us . . .”

O’Neill was asked about the decision and what went into it from the team and he added “that isn’t my job.” He wouldn’t expand on it any further but did add he stays in contact with most teammates who have left this offseason, including Alexander Mattison.

Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons are slated to be the Minnesota Vikings’ home opponents in 2024. The NFL will announce the schedule in May.
