Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany each took to social media on Thursday (Dec. 1, 2023) to celebrate their son, Memphis on his fifth birthday.
The country star shared a heartfelt message to his son, paired with a slideshow of photos showing his growth over the years. Memphis is Aldean’s third child, after his two older daughters from a previous marriage, and first with wife, Brittany.
Aldean wrote, “Happy bday to my little rockstar today. 5 years ago I was blessed with my only son and it has been an honor being his daddy and watching him grow. You are a special lil guy and we love u more than you will ever know. Happy bday Bubba. #MemphisAldean”
Brittany also took the time to pen a sweet message to Memphis and made note of their “special” mother/son relationship. Her post included a compilation video which captures some of the highlights of his life, starting with the moment he was born on December 1, 2017. In her caption, Brittany also pointed out the song playing in the background of her video, which holds a special connection to her and her son.
“Jason cut this song about me and my 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 because our bond is a special one. There’s just something amazing about a mama/son relationship♥️ I never knew how much I needed him till he came into this world🙏🏼 One of my biggest blessings in life is being YOUR MAMA, Mems♥️ Happy 5th birthday my angel, my best friend, my 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 boy. Mommy loves you SO SO SO MUCH🥹”
The Georgia native felt a connection to the song, “Your Mama,” which was co-written by Troy Verges, Ben West, Josh Miller, and Tyler Hubbard. He then recorded it as a letter to their son and claimed that it’s “probably the most personal thing that I’ve ever recorded.”
“It’s a song that is so out of left field for me because it’s not simply the kind of thing that I would cut. But when I heard it, to me, it’s more of a letter to my son,” Aldean told Music Mayhem. “I have three daughters who are amazing, but I have one son. And, to me, it was more of a song for him about his mom, Brit. To me, that was kind of where it came from. And the lyrics were originally ‘came from California,’ so I changed that to Carolina because that’s where she’s from.”
“The one that brought you in the world, you’ll always be her 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 / The one that makes it all okay when everything goes crazy / You gon’ be a wide-eyed, wild child, ridin’ fast and high like me / Life’s gonna fly by, I hope that you realize / Just how blessed we are that she’s / Your mama, gonna be there nights that I can’t / Sing a lullaby to your pain / And teach you things that I don’t even know,” he sings in the emotion-filled track.
This song is featured on Aldean’s 30-track 10th studio album, Macon, Georgia, which was named after his hometown and inspired by his upbringing surrounded by fellow Georgians.
