Priyanka Chopra recently opened up about the realisations she had when working with Shah Rukh Khan in Don, saying its important to focus on the craft.
In a rare instance, Priyanka Chopra recently opened up about her experience working in Bollywood’s iconic action-thriller of 2006 Don. The film features Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka in the lead roles. PeeCee spoke about the film during a media interaction at the Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) 2024 held in Saudi Arabia. She shared her insights into her character as Roma and how the film helped her step into the proper action genre. She also said it required significant preparation.
The film turned out to be a legendary one with Priyanka’s fierce portrayal of Roma and Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic turn as Don.
Priyanka Chopra opens up about learning Tai Chi
Priyanka revealed that to prepare for her introduction scene in Don, she undertook Tai Chi lessons under the guidance of her director, Farhan Akhtar. The director’s vision was to retain the actress’ grace in the action movements.
Talking about the discipline involved, Desi Girl said, “I took Tai Chi classes and worked really hard to perfect it because I wanted to do it right.”
Notably, earlier her Don co-star Isha Koppikar had made a bold statement that she could have done Priyanka’s character better than her since she had been training for Tai Chi for years.

The Citadel actress further confessed about an important realisation she had during the filming of Don. She stated, “By the time I came to Don, I had realised that the most important thing to focus on is my craft, not your relationships with your director, co-actors, not how you behave on set, but what you do between action and cut.”

Priyanka revealed that after the realisation stuck, she began prioritising detailed character homework ensuring that each of her roles felt distinct. “A lot of training went into the action sequences in Don, and I tasted blood a little bit,” she said while joking, “I look really good with a weapon in my hand defending my country; what can I say?”
For the unversed Don was released in 2006 and went on to become a landmark film. Later the franchise came back with a sequel in 2011 with Priyanka and Shah Rukh Khan reprising their roles.
While the third part is currently under work after over a decade, the duo will not be returning in the franchise reboot. Don 3 will feature Ranveer Singh as the new Don, while Kiara Advani will be seen in the female lead.
