Actor Henry Cavill has finally provided an update on the Amazon Prime Video adaptation of Warhammer 40,000.
Speaking in a recent interview with Collider while promoting his latest spy thriller film Argylle, the actor best known for his role as Superman and The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia, offered that production for Warhammer 40,000 is currently ongoing.
Although Cavill wasn’t able to share any specifics during the discussion, as well as nothing that could indicate when we could see the adaptation brought to the screen, he did say “Big things are happening, and we are very excited.”
Amazon and Games Workshop, the company behind the Warhammer 40,000 universe, finalized the deal for the Prime Video adaptation in December last year after a year-long negotiation process. Games Workshop announced the collaboration back in December 2022, revealing at the time that Henry Cavill would star and act as executive producer on the series, along with any potential projects, like films.
Cavill is a lifelong Warhammer fan and has shared his passion for the miniature wargame publically in the past. Following the announcement of his involvement, the actor expressed his excitement to be involved in the project.
“For 30 years I have dreamt of seeing a Warhammer universe in live action,” Cavill wrote in a statement. “Now, after 22 years of experience in this industry, I finally feel that I have the s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 set and experience to guide a Warhammer Cinematic Universe into life… To all of you Warhammer fans out there, I promise to respect this IP that we love. I promise to bring you something familiar. And I endeavor to bring you something fantastic that is, as of yet, unseen.”
There’s no news on a release date for Warhammer 40,000, but it’s safe to say it will be Cavill’s next major acting project, as the actor won’t be returning to the role of Superman or as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher series.
