From the moment Soldier Boy spoke for the first time in the third season, he quickly gained popularity among viewers. Despite appearing in just one season, Jensen Ackles’s portrayal elevated him to the forefront of each scene in which he appeared. It’s reasonable to assume that fans were thrilled when it was hinted that he would be returning in the show’s final season, given how fast he became a beloved character.

The character did not leave on a good note, to say the least. He was betrayed by the Boys, and his own son was trying to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 him. He had no allies, and that ended up taking him down, literally. With this in mind, many have been curious about where his story is going to go in the final season, considering how he is a central character.

Showrunner Eric Kripke has all the answers, and it does not sound like good news for Billy Butcher and the Boys.

Who Will Soldier Boy Align With?

During a recent interview with GamesRadar, Eric Kripke was asked to talk about what can be expected of Soldier Boy’s storyline in the final season. After revealing that he will be playing a central character and not be on the sidelines of someone else’s story, he stated that the main theme of his story would be that of a father and a son.

“You know, what we realized was we really hadn’t explored the father-son relationship much between Homelander and Soldier Boy. There’s a lot of material there, how soldier boy feels about Homelander, how Homelander feels about his dad, and so we really wanted to dig into that relationship.”

In the third season, it was revealed that Soldier Boy was the father of Homelander. As terrifying as that sounded, fans got to calm themselves when the former rejected the bond the latter wanted. However, it would seem that the new season will bring about this terrifying storyline, along with something a lot worse.

“Soldier Boy is really driven to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 Butcher after Butcher betrayed him in season 3. So he’s just an excellent antagonist, to switch sides and basically, you know, to be with the supes.”

Kripke revealed that the next season will also involve Soldier Boy having a hunger for Butcher’s blood. After the Boys betray him and he was left exactly how he started the season, fans will have to sit and watch as one of the most dangerous Supes will hunt the protagonists like animals.

The End of The Boys?

When Soldier Boy was first awoken from his frozen slumber, he had only one goal in mind—𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ing those who put him in the ice box in the first place. He massacred his former team, Payback, and not a single member was left standing by the end of it. Considering what he did the last time, it is safe to assume that once he returns, none of The Boys are safe.

They would still have a chance to eliminate Homelander and repair the harm he has caused if he reformed an alliance with the show’s main protagonists. It seems quite doubtful, though, that Jensen Ackles’s character will have any positive thoughts toward people who deceived him based on what Kripke has hinted at.

Now that Soldier Boy appears to be joining the Supes, it will be extremely challenging for them to defeat the villains—as if the Supes and their alliance weren’t strong enough already. The Supe-Killing virus is the only way out of this situation, even though Billy Butcher is now a Supe and cannot defeat the adored character.

There will undoubtedly be many casualties from the virus, possibly even members of their own team. It’s horrifying to consider the chaos that might ensue if Ackles’ character becomes a member of the Supes and develops a strong bond with Homelander.
