While season 4 of The Boys may still be a few weeks away from airing, season 5 has already begun production following the show’s earlier this month renewal by Prime Video.
According to showrunner Eric Kripke, “We’re about a month into the writers’ room right now, so we have some pretty cool notions,” ScreenRant was informed. At the moment, the situation is quite raw, like lava. Though it hasn’t solidified into anything, I’m enthusiastic. Undoubtedly, some really bizarre stuff has been discussed.”
Although the fifth season’s plot is yet unknown, Kripke would like to collaborate with Jared Padalecki to finish his “game of Supernatural Pokemon.” That’s not all coming from the Voughtverse, though; The Boys: Mexico is continuing in development despite “many obstacles,” and Gen V season 2 is also in the works.
Naturally, though, The Boys season 4 comes first. First glimpses of the new Seven—or should that be Six?—in the upcoming season, which stars Chase Crawford in The Deep, Jessie T. Usher in A-Train, Nathan Mitchell in Black Noir, Antony Starr in Homelander, Valorie Curry in Firecracker, and Susan Heyward in Sister Sage, have been released by Prime Video.
“There are certain things in this season when I read them that I audibly gasped,” Jack Quaid, who plays Hughie Campbell, recently told Collider about season 4. “I really didn’t see a lot of the beats coming, and that’s very hard to do for a person who’s been on the show for four seasons. The writers just really outdid themselves. The ending is awesome. The ending is fucking nuts. It’s insane.”
The first three episodes of The Boys season 4 are set to arrive on Prime Video on June 13. In the meantime, check out our guide to the other best new TV shows to add to your watch list.
