Stranger Things Meets “The Boys”: Season 5 Casts New Supe with Possible Prequel Tie to Jensen Ackles.

An actor from Strange Things joins The Boys’ cast as a new Supe in season five. Earlier this year, the popular superhero spoof series on Prime Video, which was created by Eric Kripke, returned for season 4, carrying on Billy Butcher’s (Karl Urban) quest for revenge against Homelander (Antony Starr) and Vought.

As Homelander’s influence increases, a cast of both new and returning Supes will gather for the last episodes of The Boys season 5, which is now confirmed to be the show’s last season.

Actor Mason Dye has been cast as Bombsight in season five of The Boys, according to Variety. Bombsight was described in season 4 as a Supe who starred in the 1950s Vought superhero film “The Curse of Fu Manchu,” yet no information about the character has been made public yet. Regarding where viewers will have seen Dye before, he most recently starred in Stranger Things season 4 as Jason Carver, a supporting antagonist and basketball standout from Hawkins High. However, the actor has also starred in Truth or Dare (2017) and Flowers in the Attic (2014).

Variety also mentions in the report that Bombsight could potentially appear in the announced The Boys prequel spinoff, Vought Rising, though Prime Video would not confirm this. The spinoff is set to star Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront in a story that takes places in the 1950s.

What Dye’s Casting Means For Stranger Things Season 5

How Is Bombsight Alive?

For season five of The Boys, Dye joins actor Daveed Diggs as a new cast member; however, Diggs’ role has not yet been disclosed. Beyond the primary time period during which Bombsight was active, very little is known about him as a figure. Additionally, it’s still unclear if Bombsight will be reawakened in the present or if his role in season 5 would be through flashbacks. However, given his past with Vought, Bombsight might wind up acting as an enemy if he does make an appearance in the current plot.

If Bombsight does appear during the modern storyline, it certainly wouldn’t be without precedent. Soldier Boy, after all, was active during the 1950s but looks like he hasn’t aged a day in the 2020s storyline. Soldier Boy’s powers essentially stop him from aging, and it’s possible that Bombsight has similar abilities. It’s also possible, however, that Bombsight has been cryogenically frozen since the ’50s, just as Soldier Boy is at the end of The Boys season 4.

Our Take On Bombsight’s Introduction In The Boys Season 5

Dye Could Make Bombsight A Great Villain

The debut of new Supes is one of the most entertaining parts of any new season of The Boys. Like Sister Sage (Susan Heyward), who can essentially only turn off her brilliant brain by giving herself a lobotomy, these new Supes frequently have genuinely unique abilities, flaws, and vices. Bombsight is probably going to have a complex personality and worldview in addition to having what seems like an explosive superpower.

As fresh season 4 episodes of Stranger Things were published, Dye’s portrayal of Jason, a character that was easy to despise, grew memorable. Dye undoubtedly possesses a shown capacity for scary behavior, even if Bombsight turns out to be a villain. It’s probable that additional casting announcements for The Boys season 5 are imminent given the recent announcements of the Dye and Diggs casts.
