Caitlin Clark gives play-by-play a try as she announces her boyfriend’s favorite MLB club after boasting about her on-air talent

Playoff-bound Caitlin Clark took a break from basketball to try her hand at announcing during a recent Major League Baseball game, a moment shared by her Indiana Fever teammate, Lexie Hull. The funny clip, featuring Clark’s commentary on the Milwaukee Brewers’ 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, quickly went viral on TikTok.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Clark began her play-by-play with enthusiasm: “And that ball is hit to the shortstop,” she said with a chuckle. “Rojas throws over to first base and that’s not going to be enough. Infield single, William Contreras.”

Though she may have mixed up Phillies shortstop Trea Turner and centerfielder Johan Rojas during the call, Clark remained undeterred, continuing to showcase her playful side. Her commentary brought a lighthearted touch to the game, demonstrating her versatility beyond the basketball court.

Clark bragged that she’s a good commentator, so teammate Lexie Hull put her on the spot

‘Bottom fourth,’ Clark said, her voice quivering slightly as Hull giggled in the background. ‘Score of 1-0 Phillies. This brings someone to the plate… Here comes the 0-1 pitch. Low, outside.’

Clark didn’t just stick to the game action. She commented on Phillies ace Aaron Nola wearing ‘sketchers,’ and later was quick to reveal a mistake.

‘And a swing and a miss, for the second strikeout of the inning,’ she said. ‘Nola gets out of it after the lead runner gets on.’

Slightly embarrassed, Clark turned to the camera and confessed: ‘Might have been the second batter. I’m not sure.’

Once again, Clark forged ahead, informing her audience that they were entering the ‘top of the fifth’ following a commercial break.

‘We’ll be back,’ she said, by which point her commentary had devolved into laughter.

Caitlin Clark recently showcased her announcing s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s during a Milwaukee Brewers vs. Philadelphia Phillies game, a fun challenge sparked by her Indiana Fever teammate, Lexie Hull. Clark admitted to Hull that she sometimes commentates games, prompting Hull to encourage her to try it out live.

“I told [Hull] that sometimes I’ll just commentate some games, so she said, ‘Alright, let’s do it right now,'” Clark explained to reporters. She didn’t realize Hull was recording until she was well into her commentary, but she found the experience enjoyable.

When asked why she chose to commentate a Phillies-Brewers game, Clark noted, “I’ve been following the Phillies, so I kind of know some of their players and stuff.” Her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, is a devoted Philadelphia fan, adding to her interest.

Reflecting on the challenge, Clark said, “That’s a hard gig. I was out of breath and exhausted. Shoutout to all the commentators out there.” She humorously acknowledged the slower pace of baseball, stating, “In baseball, there’s a lot of dead time, so you need to find random things to talk about. I was talking about his shoes, talking about random stuff. A little different than basketball.” Her playful commentary has resonated with fans, highlighting her versatility beyond the basketball court.

Caitlin Clark, while not a diehard baseball fan, has developed an affinity for a few teams over the years. Growing up in Iowa, she grew up around the Chicago Cubs’ Triple-A affiliate and recently had the chance to visit the New York Yankees’ dugout in the Bronx.

“My boyfriend grew up a really big Phillies fan, so I kinda had to,” Clark shared. “I still like the Cubs, I like the Yankees. I’m not like a diehard any baseball team… I liked the Chiefs before the Chiefs were really good too, so I’m not a bandwagoner either.”

As Clark shifts her focus back to basketball, the Indiana Fever are gearing up for their playoff run. They will open their series on Sunday at 3 PM in Connecticut, facing off against the favored Suns in Game 1 of the first round.

Meanwhile, her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, is preparing for his first season as an assistant men’s coach at Butler University in Indianapolis, marking an exciting time for both in their respective careers.
