Angel Reese’s decision to promote her podcast was seemingly harmless, but not according to Caitlin Clark’s fans, as they called out the Chicago Sky forward for seemingly snubbing the Indiana Fever ace’s WNBA Rookie of the Year win as she beat Reese to the prize.
The 22-year-olds continued their heated rivalry from the NCAA throughout their first season in professional basketball as they both contended for the rookie award in the first half of the season, before a sensational second half from Clark left her with no rivals.
In the end, she claimed 66 of the 67 votes to win Rookie of the Year with the other going to Reese, who had a strong campaign that came to a tragic end with the Sky after suffering a late-season injury.
The one vote was already a bad taste in the mouths of her fans that Clark wasn’t voted as unanimous winner, in a year she was placed unwillingly at the center of a racism scandal, but Reese’s lack of a desire to rush to comment on the matter has only made things worse apparently.
And in light of that one mysterious personality who decided against Fever’s shooter for that award, a few journalists headed online to make sure they distanced themselves from being known as the anonymous one.
Terrika Foster-Brasby wrote, “Just so we’re clear… it wasn’t me. I voted for CC. So don’t blow me up or call me a hater cause IT WASNT TERRIKA.”
Whilst Khristina Williams said, “I had Caitlin Clark on my ballot for Rookie of the Year.”
What did Reese do as fans react?
Reese didn’t actually do anything wrong, she was simply promoting her own podcast, making the social media response against the youngster even more bizarre since she didn’t actively
snub Clark.
“NEW EPISODE OUT NOW!! WE DROPPED SOME GEMS!!,” Reese posted online, referring to her Unapologetically Angel podcast.
One user posted to X.com, formerly Twitter, “You not finna congratulate your fellow mate for rookie of the year?”
A second added, “Make sure you shout out the #ROTY.”
Whilst a third said, “You lost rookie of the year but you’re tweeting this.”
