Queen Camilla blocked King Charles from reuniting with his estranged son Prince Harry during his most recent visit to the UK.
According to the Daily Beast , King Charles wanted to see his youngest son when Prince Harry returned to the UK last week, but his advisers and Camilla did not think it was a good idea.
A person close to Queen Camilla, 77, told reporters they did not want King Charles, 75, to be put under unnecessary stress before he leaves for Australia later this month.
“She was the main voice urging King Charles to slow down and calm down,” the person explained.
However, a friend of King Charles also shared with the newspaper that he wanted the cold relationship with Harry (40 years old) to be “resolved” for “personal reasons and to reduce pressure on the monarchy itself”.
“The king has always been a forgiving Christian, and his cancer diagnosis only made that nature stronger,” the friend said. “He wants to resolve this issue not only because he loves both his sons, but also because it destabilizes the monarchy.”
Over the weekend, Harry traveled to London to attend the 2024 WellChild Awards – a charity that helps sick children that he has been involved with for nearly 20 years.
Ahead of the emotional ceremony, a source confirmed to People that the Duke of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍 had “no plans” to meet his father or brother Prince William, 42.
Harry last returned to the UK last month to attend the funeral of his late uncle Robert Fellowes, in Norfolk. William was also present at the ceremony, but the pair are said to have kept their distance.
To date, after their separation, Harry has only seen his father since King Charles announced he was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024.
Harry and his family have had a strained relationship since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, decided to step back from royal duties in early 2020. The split deepened when the couple made a number of allegations of racism against them in interviews and in their explosive memoir Spare.
Sources previously told Page Six that Prince Harry would reconcile with his father if King Charles granted him and his wife the security clearances that were revoked after they left the royal family to live in the US.
