Star Erin Moriarty of The Boys, an Amazon Prime Video series, has the support of writer Eric Kripke and the ensemble. As a result of the egregiously misogynistic remarks that some purported show viewers have made about Moriarty, the actress has now disclosed that she feels “silenced” and “dehumanized” by the remarks that others have been making about her character.
Kripke has now come to the actress’ defence. And he has some very choice words to say to anyone who has a problem with the women of The Boys. ‘Hi trolls! One, this is literally the opposite of the show’s f***ing message. Two, you’re causing pain to real people with real feelings. Be kind. If you can’t be kind, then eat a bag of d***s, f*** off to the sun & don’t watch #TheBoys, we don’t want you. #TheBoysTV,’ he wrote in the tweet.
Erin Moriarty feels ‘dehumansied’ by 𝓈ℯ𝓍ist The Boys fans.
Homelander actor Antony Starr commented: ‘Amen to that, sir. Be kind people. It’s easy ;)’
This comes in response to a fan-written Medium post that Moriarty had recently reposted about the treatment of Starlight on the show.
Antony Starr also urged The Boys fans to ‘be kind’.
Erin got support from her The Boys co-stars.
The post detailed how the fans have completely missed the point of the show with the way they have been treating Starlight.
She then responded to it in an Instagram post, writing: ‘I do feel silenced. I do feel dehumanised. I do feel paralysed.
‘I’ve put blood, sweat, and tears into this role (over and over and over again), I’ve grown UP in this character’s shoes (*emphasis on grown up – we change and evolve mentally AND physically).’
Erin stars as the fearless Starlight in The Boys.
She also thanked the fan for writing the piece and added that the kind of online harassment she has been receiving from fans ‘does break my heart’ and that this kind of trolling is exactly what her character Starlight, whose real name is Annie January, would speak out against.
The Boys’ fourth season is currently in production. The cast has been posting behind-the-scenes pictures from the set, and it already seems like we’re in for an incredible adventure that might even top that moment with the exploding penis.
Stephen Fleet, a member of the crew who oversees VFX for The Boys, tweeted recently from the set, saying, “My eyes can’t unsee what I just saw right now.”
