Serena Williams had a delightful family day out with her six-year-old daughter, Olympia, at the Jumping Individual Final during the Olympic Games on Tuesday. The former tennis champion, 42, wore chunky sunglasses and styled her blonde hair in loose curls, opting for a casual white T-shirt and a tan hat, while Olympia sported a matching white shirt and sunglasses.
The day prior, the mother-daughter duo had attended the men’s quarterfinal volleyball match between the USA and Brazil, where Serena cradled Olympia as they enjoyed the game together.
However, the outing took a turn when Serena claimed she and her daughter were denied entry to a five-star restaurant at The Peninsula Hotel, despite it being empty. She took to X to express her frustration about the treatment they received, posting a snapshot of the luxury establishment alongside her complaint.
The Peninsula Hotel responded within two hours, apologizing for the incident and clarifying that the rooftop bar was fully booked. They emphasized their appreciation for Serena and expressed hope to welcome her again.
Fans quickly rallied behind Serena on social media, questioning how a tennis legend could be denied entry. Comments ranged from disbelief about the situation to critiques of the restaurant’s food quality, with one user humorously noting, “How does one get denied when they are Serena Williams?”
In addition to the restaurant incident, Serena participated in the Olympic opening ceremony on July 26, sharing a boat ride with stars like Rafael Nadal and Carl Lewis. She described the experience as “unforgettable,” humorously recounting how the rain even affected her makeup.
With four Olympic gold medals and numerous Grand Slam victories to her name, Serena continues to shine both on and off the court as she enjoys this special time with her family in Paris.
