Royal fans have been unanimous in criticizing Meghan Markle’s major fashion faux pas in her third outfit of the trip. Public attention has been focused on the controversial dress, with many taking to social media to voice their opinions

Meghan Markle left royal fans feeling unimpressed with one of her outfits during her and Prince Harry’s quasi-royal tour in Colombia. On the first day of their visit, the couple participated in various activities, including a folkloric presentation at the Delia Zapata National Art Centre in Bogotá.

Meghan showcased a chic new cut-out dress by Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz (£1,669), which featured a striking deep slit and was paired with Jimmy Choo’s Etana mules in tan (£675). To complete her look, she accessorized with her signature jewelry, including Cartier’s Juste un Clou necklace (£15,500), a gold Tank Française watch (£28,200), and a yellow gold Love bracelet (£7,050).

She also wore Lanvin’s gold Arpege Sleeper earrings and a vintage High Tea yellow gold coral bead flower ring.

However, royal fans did not like the dress’s slit in the middle and some of them deemed it inappropriate for such a visit.

One fan wrote on X: “She simply doesn’t know how to read a room about clothing styles and what’s appropriate. That slit is too high especially how she crosses her legs. At least it’s by a designer of Columbia’s heritage.”

Another one agreed: “Another entirely inappropriate outfit, far too much flesh showing.”

A third one added: “Cute dress, not for this occasion.”

A fourth one suggested: “The slit should be sewn a bit more.”

A fifth one commented: “Meghan needs to cover up more when visiting governments.”

A sixth one opined: “It’s a lovely colour and fabric but not quite the thing for a ‘royal visit’ or whatever they’re calling it.”
