Serena Williams Shares Third Attempt to Fit into Denim Valentino Skirt on Instagram
Serena Williams is back at it again, trying to fit into her denim Valentino skirt as she documents her post-partum fitness journey. Just two months after her last attempt, the 42-year-old tennis superstar made a new try in a video posted on her Instagram on Monday.
In the caption, she humorously wrote, “Ok everyone the jean skirt is baaaaaaackkkkkk. Paris was fun, but I gotta see if I can fit in this skirt yet – saying a little prayer…lol.”
Dressed in a light pink romper for the clip, Serena informed her fans, “I haven’t tried it on since last time. So, let’s see what happens here. Let’s say our prayers. Don’t get negative if it doesn’t work out.”
This time, Serena was one step closer to her weight loss goal, managing to pull the skirt on, though she couldn’t quite zip it up yet.
The athlete was happy with her progress, telling fans: ‘We don’t have that big of a problem anymore, but we still got a little bit of a problem.’
‘Who in the world is fitting these skirts?’ she playfully asked.
‘I might need to check back in another few weeks,’ the star added, saying the skirt is ‘a little tight, I can’t really breathe. I might have to do one more video.’
Serena also thanked fans for joining her on the ‘long’ and ‘hard journey’ and added, ‘we’ve made a lot of progress.’
Meanwhile her fans and followers praised her figure and advised Serena to simply get a new skirt.
‘Throw that skirt away and buy a new one with a lil stretch b/c your body is perfect,’ one wrote.
‘The skirt is the wrong shape, not you. Get a new skirt,’ another added.
‘I like your honesty about the work and struggle. Not promoting snap back culture x,’ yet another fan chimed in.
The praise for the star continued, with a follower adding, ‘Forget the skirt, you look amazing.’
There were also some who believed Serena could have zipped up if she tried, writing, ‘You gave up too soon Momma….you could’ve pulled that zip up.’
Sherrie Shepherd humorously added, Tthe skirt saga continues!’
There were plenty of encouraging comments for the star to read on her post, including one that said, ‘You’re almost there!!’
One fan told Serena: ‘I’m not sure straight skirts are made for women with bottoms, dearest sis you are trying to squeeze circles into squares, you have to go a size up then take the waist in.’
‘Your amazing body birthed two humans! It’s not your body, it’s the skirt that needs to go! I love watching your fitness journey and the message. Mommas need to remember we don’t just bounce back,’ yet another comment read.
The star previously tried the skirt on in March, nine months after giving birth.
The Olympic gold medalist shared a hilarious Instagram reel, writing, ‘Ok everyone, I have been working my [peach emoji] off! Let’s see what happens with my jean skirt. Can I fit it yet? Check it out!’
She squeezed into the skirt in front of her mirror, getting caught on her butt as she attempted to pull it up.
Although Williams said she’s ‘been gym-ing alot,’ she doesn’t think ‘the needle is moving.’
“It’s getting there,” Serena Williams remarked as she showcased her progress in fitting into her denim skirt before ultimately pretending to cry.
“I just wanna cry,” she said, adding, “But I’m not. I’m just gonna stop eating all those snacks.”
The 23-time Grand Slam champion welcomed her second child, daughter Adira River, with husband Alexis Ohanian in August. The couple, who married in 2017, also share a 6-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Jr.
