A report related to Taylor Swift’s ongoing Eras Tour has been circulating on social media platforms, following a post shared by the official Facebook page of SpaceX Fanclub on September 13, 2024. The post alleged that the tour struggled with ticket sales due to criticism emerging of Swift endorsing Kamala Harris. The post reads:
“Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Struggles with Only 2,000 Ticket Sales After Endorsement Backlash – This is Satire Post.”
The claim has been debunked, as it was a satirical post. The Facebook page has mentioned in the bio that nothing on their page is real. The timeline is flooded with various other reports, including that Tim Allen and Roseanne Barr have canceled a non-wake show with ABC.
Despite the satirical nature of the post, the comments section was filled with different responses. Many expressed frustration towards Taylor Swift, with some stating that they were expecting the news to be true, and others said that she would suffer the consequences of her actions.
Taylor Swift shares a social media post in support of Kamala Harris
Notably, Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for the upcoming 2024 US presidential election through an Instagram post with a photo where she held a cat in her hand. The singer addressed the presidential debate that happened on September 10, 2024, saying that voters need to understand the problems they are dealing with. She further stated:
“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.”
The singer continued:
“It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
Swift said that she would cast her vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. She revealed the reasons for the same, saying that the former always battles for the rights of the common man and that people can achieve a lot if Harris gets a chance to lead everyone.
She added that Walz has always taken a stand for LGBTQ+ and woman rights alongside IVF. She continued:
“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.”
After Swift’s Instagram post went viral, more than 400,000 people visited vot.gov, which includes details on how to register to vote and cast a ballot. The figure was also confirmed by a spokesperson for the GSA, and the figure was around 30,000 visits per day before Swift showcased her support for Kamala Harris.
Taylor Swift had previously encouraged people to register their vote last year. On the other hand, Harris’ campaign has led to a rise in the sale of the Harris-Walz friendship bracelets, which have been common among Swift’s fans.
