It was a family affair at Wrexham FC as co-owner Ryan Reynolds visited The Racehorse Ground on March 25 with his wife, Blake Lively, and their four kids – James, 8, Inez, 6, Betty, 3, and their newborn who is just months old (and whose name is yet to be revealed). The Hollywood couple arrived in Wales to watch his team play York City; a game which they won 3-0. The family wandered onto the pitch soon after to take selfies as a new family of six and speak to fans sitting in the crowd.
While Lively and Reynolds are known for their cutting sense of humor, one particularly brilliant video was circulating on Twitter. When one fan, who had FaceTimed his girlfriend and asked Lively to say hello, the “Gossip Girl” star responded: “Hi Stephanie . . . you should leave him” as the crowd erupted in laughter.
For the day out, Lively wore a chic checked coat over a black cardigan to layer up in the cold weather, while her “Deadpool” husband became a walking advert and opted to wear his team’s merchandise, of course. The couple returned the following day to watch the Wrexham FC Women’s team win 2-1 against Connah’s Quay Nomads. Reynolds co-owner Rob McElhenney also joined them to watch the games over the weekend, which saw record-breaking crowds pass through the gates.
Reynolds took to Instagram shortly after the win to post a gallery of photos from the momentous Welsh trip, including a gorgeous selfie with Lively. He added a heartfelt caption: “Two unbelievable days of Wrexham football. Nearly 20,000 people passed through the gates of the Racecourse Ground. @wrexham_afc won – but the main event was @wrexhamafcwomen winning it all and hoisting the big shiny trophy. These women played their guts out and @robmcelhenney and I couldn’t be prouder or more choked up.” He also posted photos to his Instagram story of his co-owner and wife, which Lively reposted, writing “Two guys, a girl, and a football place” (a reference to his ’90s TV sitcom, “Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place”).
Despite David Beckham having to explain the offside rule to him, Reynolds is passionate about his sporting venture and even chronicled his real-life Ted Lasso moment in the Disney+ docuseries, “Welcome to Wrexham.” He previously taken his eldest daughter to a Wrexham FC FA Cup match in January, but this marks the first time they’ve all attended together. Check out all the sweet photos of the family trip to the Wrexham game ahead.
