Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon set to change his jersey number for touching reason

Gordon’s brother Drew, who was also a professional basketball player, died at the age of 33 in May after a car accident.

And the 2023 NBA champion has decided to switch from No. 50 to No. 32 as a tribute to his late big brother, according to NBA numerologist Etienne Catalan.

Gordon wore No. 32 while playing for New Mexico in college, and also had the number when he played overseas in Italy and Russia.

He played nine times for the Sixers in the 2014-15 season and also played in G-League for Philadelphia and the Long Island Nets.

Aaron Gordon has worn No. 50 since he was traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2021

He will now change his number to No. 32, in honor of his late big brother Drew, who died in May

In early June, Gordon posted a tribute to Drew on his Instagram, writing, ‘Big bruh lives thru me.’

He also shared a picture of a new tattoo he’d gotten, featuring his brother’s initials on a gorilla.

Drew died in Portland, Oregon on May 30th after his three-wheeled autocycle hit a GMC Sierra pickup.

According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, a preliminary investigation indicated that Drew’s vehicle ‘crossed over the center line’ of the road before colliding with the GMC.

The driver and passenger in the truck were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police added that Drew wasn’t believed to have been impaired at the time of the crash.

Gordon’s Nuggets begin their NBA season on October 24 vs. the Thunder.
