Sometimes it’s your own mini!
Serena Williams has met her match: her mini-me!
The tennis pro took to Instagram on Tuesday to post an adorable video of herself going head-to-head on the tennis court with none other than her 4-year-old daughter, Olympia.
As seen in the clip below, Serena, 40 – who is wearing a black and white printed Nike outfit – appears to be preparing to serve. Before doing so, however, she looked to the opposite side of the court, where her opponent was revealed. It’s Olympia, dressed like Serena.
The 4-year-old girl can be seen getting into position, squatting down with her racket at the ready. Olympia giggled cutely as she looked at her mother.
“Really? This is crazy,” Serena said. The 23-time Grand Slam champion turned away from the net and walked in the opposite direction, before bouncing the tennis ball off the racket toward her daughter. Olympia laughed again sweet and intended to hit the ball but missed.
Serena – who shares the Olympia with husband Alexis Ohanian – captioned the post: “Sometimes it’s your own mini!” Check out the video below!
In addition to fans flocking to the post’s comments section to see the clip, Alexis also wrote: “I can’t believe @olympiaohanian missed that.”
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Serena opened up about childbirth in an open-ended essay published in Elle. The tennis star candidly admitted that she had no connection to Olympia until after her birth.
During her pregnancy, Williaмs wrote about the anxiety she felt due to the lack of connection she felt with her daughter in the womb.
“I was very nervous to meet me 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢. Throughout my pregnancy, I never felt any connection to her,” Williaмs reflects. “Even though I love being pregnant, I haven’t had that amazing <eм>God, this is my amazing 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢</em> moment, ever. That’s something people don’t talk about very often, because we should have loved each other from the first moment.”
“Yes, I’m a lioness who will protect her 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 at any cost, but I’m not crazy about her,” she continued. “I kept waiting to feel like I knew her throughout my pregnancy, but that feeling never came. Some of my friends told me they also didn’t feel a connection in the womb, which made me feel better, but I still craved it.
Despite her worries, the connection the athlete longed for finally came after Olympia was born in 2017. Although the feeling wasn’t instantaneous, Serena described her love for his daughter like a growing seed.
“When I finally saw her — and I just knew it was going to be a girl, that was the one thing I knew about her before we confirmed it — I fell in love with her immediately,” she said. write. “It wasn’t quite instantaneous, but it was there, and from that seed it grew. I can’t stop staring at her, my Olympia.”
“I spent the night in the hospital with my 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 in the room. When I woke up, she was lying in my arms. The rest of my body was paralyzed. I couldn’t get out of bed because my legs were still weak, but that didn’t matter. Alexis and I sat there, alone with our new 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢. It was strange to feel the presence of this third person in the room,” Williaмs added.
