The final episode of The Boys Season 4 has aired on Prime Video. Episode 8, “Season Four Finale,” blurs the lines between who is a villain and who is a hero. Butcher (Karl Urban) appears to be a terrifying Supe, and like an octopus, he is very scary. The entire episode is connected with politics and features a lot of twists for the viewers.
Episode 8 opens with Frenchie (Tomer Capone) almost creating the Supe-𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ing virus using Kimiko’s (Karen Fukuhara) leg. Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) contacts Hughie (Jack Quaid) to prepare the documents on Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), who is a Supe and running for vice president. Unfortunately, Hughie is trapped by a shapeshifter posing as Annie (Erin Moriarty). She distracts him with a marriage proposal and a story about her grandma, then slowly starts peeling off her skin.
Following the last episode, Butcher is hospitalized and near death. He fully embraces his darker side, influenced by Joe (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who has a plan to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 all the Supes, including Ryan (Cameron Crovetti). At that moment, Grace Mallory (Laila Robins) meets with Butcher to discuss keeping Ryan safe from Homelander (Antony Starr).
Homelander is deeply upset to find that Ryan still has affection for his mother and Butcher. He discovers a Christmas present photo given by Butcher to Ryan in his bag. Homelander calls Ryan, but Ryan doesn’t listen and instead leaves Vought to visit Butcher in the hospital.
Meanwhile, Hughie discovers that all the documents are missing from him, taken by Annie’s shapeshifter. The real Annie is imprisoned by the shapeshifter. During the chaos, Hughie and Mother’s Milk realize the Annie they’re dealing with is a shapeshifter and they start fighting. The shapeshifter attempts to assassinate the president, but the real Annie joins the fight and 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s the shapeshifter.
Homelander had a foolish plan: he ordered the Seven to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 everyone at Vought who had information against them, including Ashley. Upon hearing this, she immediately injected herself with Compound V, resulting in severe wounds. Also, Homelander publicly exposed Neuman as a Supe during a live television broadcast by lasering her, thereby revealing her powers to the world. Homelander even threatened to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 Neuman’s daughter, prompting her to call Hughie for help in escaping with Zoe.
In the end, Butcher arrives at the Boys’ meeting and uses his new superpower, tendrils from his body, to fatally injure Neuman by splitting her in half. He then takes the virus from Frenchie and leaves. Butcher had planned to inject himself with the virus to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 Homelander.
With every plan executed, Homelander calls Sage (Susan Heyward), who informs him that everything has gone according to her plan. She leaked a video of Singer ordering Neuman’s murder, which led to Singer’s arrest.
The new presidential candidate, Senator Calhoun, pledges allegiance to Homelander and declares martial law, placing Homelander in command of a superhuman army. As Butcher goes on the run with the virus to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 Homelander, the rest of The Boys attempt to flee the country but are captured by Supes, except for Annie, who gets back her Starlight powers and escapes.
