Taylor Swift isn’t the only godparent to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ son Olin as Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy revealed he has the special distinction.
Unexpected cameos aren’t the only surprises coming from Ryan Reynolds’ newest Deadpool film.
After all, Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy revealed his special connection to Reynolds, 47, and wife Blake Lively’s son Olin—and it’s a special distinction he shares with Taylor Swift.
“Little by little, all of the Reynoldses started being a part of the movie, including their youngest,” Levy told Variety in an interview published Aug. 5. “As the proud godfather of Olin, that might be my favorite voice cameo.”
Of course, the toddler, who voiced Babypool, is just one of the many family members who made their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Deadpool’s third outing as Lively, 36, appeared as Lady Deadpool and her and Reynolds’ middle daughter Inez, 7, voiced Kidpool.
And while Swift was rumored to play the role that longtime bestie Lively ultimately showed up in, she did make her support for the film well known—even revealing she is godparent to Olin and Inez as well as Reynolds and the Gossip Girl alum’s other two kids James, 9, and Betty, 4.
“Over the past few years I have watched one of my best friends on the planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film,” she wrote alongside a picture of Reynolds, Lively, Levy and Hugh Jackman. “Shout out to [Reynolds’ character] Wade Wilson, aka my godkids’ sperm donor!”
The “Karma” singer, who has used the Lively-Reynolds children’s names in some of her hit songs, has been friends with the couple for years and even gave them a shoutout at her Madrid concert on May 29.
“I have to say that on folklore,” she told the crowd, “some of my favorite characters are named James, Inez and Betty.”
And it seems friendship is a key role in selecting godparents for Lively and Reynolds.
Levy, 55, who first worked with Reynolds on 2021’s Free Guy expressed to People in April that he and the Proposal star “have become extremely close friends” and the duo even live “half a block” apart.
It was a fast friendship that blossomed on Free Guy and continued when they reunited on The Adam Project the following year.
“We just had an ease with each other,” expressed Levy, who shares four children with wife Serena, about that first film. “We just connected in terms of wanting to give audiences a movie that transports them, makes them laugh, and isn’t embarrassed about being big-hearted.”
