Joshua’s Team Questions Dubois’ Absence from VADA Testing

Anthony Joshua’s management team, 258, has questioned why Daniel Dubois has not signed up for VADA testing.

The two will face off on September 21 in an IBF Heavyweight Title clash. Dubois was the IBF mandatory for Oleksandr Usyk. However, the Ukrainian vacated the belt after beating Tyson Fury and chose to pursue the rematch with the Gypsy King instead. Both boxers enter into the fight in good form. Joshua has won his last two fights since teaming up with Ben Davidson. He stopped Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.

Joshua vs. Dubois

While they are not the biggest names, Joshua looked like his older self, throwing more combinations as he stepped in behind the jab. Dubois has recovered since being stopped by Usyk last year. He has secured stoppage wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic, which have landed him the AJ fight. It shuts down the narrative that Dubois quits in the big moments. He failed to get up in time to beat the count when he faced Usyk.

Meanwhile, Dubois took a knee in his loss against Joe Joyce. Both fighters must be on an even playing field in a fight of such magnitude. Joshua’s team has questioned why Dubois has not signed with VADA. Dubois’ team has yet to respond to this, but with around two months left to go to the fight, it is vital that the VADA testing is done.

VADA Testing

Evening @Queensberry … any update on why @DynamiteDubois isn’t signed up for @Vada_Testing yet?? ‍♂️

VADA testing is vital, given the recent failed tests by high-profile boxers. Conor Benn failed two VADA tests for Clomiphene before his fight with Chris Eubank Jr. The fight was called off while Benn maintained his innocence. Benn is suspended by UKAD and the British Boxing Board of Control as boxing fans wait for punishment. Meanwhile, Ryan Garcia also failed VADA tests for Ostarine. The tests came back after his win over Devin Haney. The result became a no-contest, while Garcia received a one-year ban.

While Haney walked out of the ring in one piece, he was dropped three times, suffering extensive damage. That has led to suggestions that boxers should be banned for life. In addition, there are also suggestions that there should be a separate league for boxers who want to use PEDS. But in a sport where someone can lose their life, it is vital that all measures are taken to protect fighters. If things are on an even playing field, Carl Frampton expects Joshua to be the favorite in the fight. But he can see a scenario where Dubois comes out victorious.

Who Wins?

“Coming through the adversity he came through in his last two fights probably gives him more of a chance. I certainly think AJ is the favorite. They’re heavyweights, and Dubois is brave. What I can guarantee is someone gets knocked out, and someone gets knocked out in the first six rounds. I would have to favor AJ, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Dubois does it,” Carl Frampton said
