However, the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has been going on for a long time. Eminem went on to seal the deal with his remark on Lamar and Drake’s competition.
Eminem Believes Kendrick Lamar Is One Of The Best Rappers of All Time
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Shade 45, Eminem spoke about one of the biggest debates of all time in the music industry. Eminem and Kendrick Lamar collaborated on the 2013 released Marshall Mathers LP 2 track Love Game. The celebrated rapper is a self-confessed fan of Kendrick Lamar’s work and even believes that he is one of the best vocalists of all time.
On being asked by Sway Calloway whether he agrees with the statement
“Kendrick, to me, is the most electrifying vocalist of this generation.”
Eminem said-
“I absolutely would agree. Kendrick is at the very top tier of lyricists, not just this generation but of all time.”

The dispute between Lamar and Drake dates back to 2013. The N95 singer released a track with controversial lyrics aimed at his competitors like Tyler, Drizzy, and Mac Miller. The headline-making lyrics of Control are-
“I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n*****”.
However, the alleged diss track was not seen in a good light by Drake, and during an interview with Billboard in 2013, the Gods Plan singer reacted to the offensive lyrics. He said-
“It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That’s all it was. I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, on any platform. So when that day presents itself, I guess we can revisit the topic.”
Later, Kendrick Lamar clarified that the lyrics of his track were blown out of proportion. He even mentioned that the ones who understood the real meaning behind the song were the actual kings of New York.

Kendrick Lamar Talks About The Inspiration Behind His Songs
During a conversation with Interview Magazine in March 2023, Kendrick Lamar spoke about the inspiration behind his songs. The Grammy Award winner revealed that he ends up thinking about the takeaway from his track before curating one. He said-
“I focus on what my fans will take from it, people living their day-to-day lives. At the end of the day, the music isn’t for me; it’s for people who are going through their struggles and want to relate to someone who feels the same way they do. I’ve got to take Mom out of the equation. I’ve got to go all-in, expressing myself, right there in the moment.”

While talking about the volatile nature of fame and how it affects an artist in the long run, Lamar said-
“I think I’m still growing. The more people I meet, the more cultures I start to embrace, and the more people I open myself up to—it’s a growing process I’m excited about. But it’s also a challenge for me, to be at this level and still be able to connect with somebody who’s living that everyday life. At first, it was something I struggled with, because everything was moving so fast. I didn’t know how to digest it.”
He further mentioned how the city of Crompton has always helped him understand the temporary nature of fame. He said-
“The best thing I did was go back to the city of Compton, to touch the people who I grew up with and tell them the stories of the people I met around the world. Making To Pimp a Butterfly was me navigating those experiences. I went to Africa, and I was like, ‘This is something I can enjoy and something I can challenge myself with.’”
With a net worth of $75 million, Kendrick Lamar is one of the most influential names in the global music industry.
