Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has just received exciting news from the WNBA: she has been named the league’s Rookie of the Month for June.
Despite the Sky’s 3-8 record in June, Reese was very deserving of the award. She set a WNBA record for the most consecutive double-doubles in a single season with 10. In 11 total games during the month, Reese averaged 14.5 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. The former LSU Tigers star also led the WNBA in rebounds during that time frame.
This is the second Rookie of the Month award the WNBA has given in the 2024 season. The May award went to Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
Reese was drafted with the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She has made a major improvement from her first month as a professional to her second, increasing both her scoring and rebounding averages.
