A record-setting ninth straight double-double from Angel Reese wasn’t enough to lift the Chicago Sky to victory Thursday night over two-time MVP A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces.
Wilson led both teams with 31 points to power the defending WNBA champions to a 95-83 win in Chicago.

Reese meanwhile made history with 18 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
The rookie tied the single-season record Candace Parker set in 2015 with nine consecutive double-doubles.
She is also the youngest player in WNBA history to mark double-doubles in nine straight games.

Chicago Sky are going to lose but the fans don’t care as long as Angel Reese gets her Double Double

Nine straight double-double in a row ain’t no way near rookies number. <br>The last player that ever had that number was WNBA legend, Candace Parker #3. Put a respect on Angel Reese name yall. <br><br>That Barbie is cooking! <a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/Skytown?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>#Skytown</a> <a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/WNBA?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>#WNBA</a> <a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/AngelReese?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>#AngelReese</a>
The performance left some fans convinced that Reese has established herself as the frontrunner for the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year over the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark.

I’m not taking anything from CC bc her team sucks and she’s having a great season, but Angel Reese is putting up GREAT numbers on some of the best defenders in the W. She’s the clear ROY to me right now.

Angel Reese is running away with that ROTY right now. Got worked by A’ja a bit but definitely held her own and will only get better! She is so much fun to watch.
No matter the results of the game or the end-of-year awards, WNBA fans were excited to see one of the game’s best rookies play on the same court as arguably the most talented player in league history.

A’ja Wilson was her usual GOAT self and Angel Reese has another double-double with 18 points. Tonight has been a very positive night for my favorite WNBA players!

A lesson that will improve her and the team. <a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/SkyTown?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>#SkyTown</a> • <a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/WNBA?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>#WNBA</a>
Sky fans will now be watching for Reese to take on the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday at home.
If Chicago’s ROY candidate can record another double-double against Napheesa Collier and the Lynx, she will set a record for the longest streak within a single WNBA season.
