When Prince Harry travelled back to the UK last month to celebrate 10 years of the Invictus Games, a huge talking point surrounding the occasion was whether Meghan Markle would return with him.
The Invictus Games has been an important part of their relationship ever since Harry and Meghan debuted as a couple at the tournament in Toronto in 2017.
Ever since then the Duchess of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍 has accompanied her husband all over the world with Invictus, from Australia to the Netherlands to Germany, with the countdown to Canada 2025 already underway.
However Britain apparently remains a no-go still for Meghan, who only came back here in 2022 for the Platinum Jubilee and the late Queen Elizabeth’s funeral just three months later.
With polls suggesting her popularity has plummeted and commentators raking over every little detail of everything she does, is it any wonder that Meghan has chosen to stay away?

Last time the Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍es were at St Paul’s Cathedral together, for the Platinum Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving, there were boos as well as cheers in the crowd.
When Harry arrived at the venue solo last Wednesday his reception was noticeably warmer, suggesting that the British public are far more willing to forgive their rogueish Prince than the strange American woman blamed for stealing him away.
Furthermore Meghan’s appearance in London after years of steering clear would no doubt have turned all the focus onto the couple and away from the Invictus family which Harry has worked so hard to promote.
As it happened it was Harry’s non-meeting with King Charles that made all the headlines, suggesting he does not need his wife’s help to create drama after all.

Yet the Duchess has still faced scrutiny for her decision, particularly for keeping their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet tucked away in California.
While stories about the King desperately missing his grandchildren undoubtedly tug at the heartstrings, if Meghan doesn’t feel welcome or secure here then surely we cannot expect her to feel safe about having her young family in the eye of the storm.
Meghan is facing an impossible choice between staying safe in California as the royal feud rumbles on or facing the music while risking the wrath of a country she believes hates her.

If there is any way back for the Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍es and the Firm to repair their relationship then Harry and Meghan will have to start coming back to Britain more often.
