The Game addresses absence from Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Pop Out’ concert

The Game has spoken out about missing Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” event in Los Angeles, which was attended by a number of well-known West Coast hip-hop artists.

In an extended Instagram Live session on Thursday, June 20, the rapper from Compton, who has publicly expressed his support for Drake, gave high marks to the occasion.

“Now, as far as the Kendrick and Drake shit concerned, that’s Kendrick and Drake shit, n-gga,” he said.

“Kendrick do his shit and what he did last night was amazing for the West Coast. I sat back and I watched it. I ain’t have to be there, you know what I’m saying? I think it’s a W for the coast.

“I think what K.Dot did for a lot of West Coast n-ggas last night was hard as fuck. I think it was dope of him and big-hearted of him to do that for n-ggas.”

He added: “Yesterday, when I see what Dot did for the city, I thought that shit was amazing. He didn’t have to do that but he did it. As far as my relationship with Drake? Drake is my brother. I fuck with Drake.”

After various West Coast Hip Hop figures such as Dr. Dre, Tyler, The Creator, YG, Roddy Ricch and the TDE roster made appearances at the historic concert, many fans pointed out the absence of The Game, who has collaborated with Kendrick Lamar in the past.

In the video, The Game didn’t directly address why he wasn’t at the show, having received much criticism online for taking sides with Drake and dissing Rick Ross.

At the “Pop Out” concert, Kendrick made clear his beef with Drake wasn’t over as he performed diss tracks “Like That,” “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us.”

Kendrick Lamar also changed the lyrics of “Euphoria” to demand that Drake return the 2Pac ring he bought for over $1 million at auction.

Flipping the original lyrics to the song, he rapped: “Give me 2Pac’s ring back and I might give you a little respect.”

On the original version of the track, he said: “Somebody had told me that you got a ring, on God, I’m ready to double the wage/ I’d rather do that than let a Canadian n-gga make ‘Pac turn in his grave.”
