Antony Starr is not a superhero, but he plays one on TV.
The 48-year-old New Zealander actor, who plays Homelander on Prime Video’s The Boys, has a secret ingredient that helps him stay in peak physical condition.
On Men’s Health’s ‘Eat Like…’, he shared that he adds a spoonful of peanut butter to his post-workout protein smoothies for added texture.

It also provides ‘a little thickness, a little sweetening without being overpowering, and you know you’re getting excellent healthy fats.’
‘I have to keep myself virtually exactly the same shape for the entire seven to eight-month filming,’ Starr said later in the video.
He said on Men’s Health ‘Eat Like…’ that he adds a spoonful of peanut butter to his post-workout protein smoothies ‘just to give it a little bit more texture’.
Starr revealed what whipped him into shape and prompted him to begin his ‘toughest diet’ yet when he initially joined the show, which debuted in 2019.
‘In season one, they tried to put me in a corset, which was uncomfortable and unpleasant,’ he recounted.
‘So I exercised like crazy for two weeks to get rid of it, and happily, I never wore a corset onscreen,’ Starr explained.
The Cobweb actor acknowledged ‘it’s harder to stay in shape’ once you reach 40, noting that he focuses on his nutrition, stretching and yoga.
‘In the off-season, I’m much less conscious of shape and more conscious of what’s going on internally and trying to stay healthy,’ he said.
‘Once we’re starting to get towards the season, then I have to get back into that spandex suit, my little spand-y friend,’ Starr explained.
‘I actually have to start considering a lot more what I’m eating.’
His go-to foods are scrambled eggs, sourdough toast and avocado in the morning, as well as a crudité for a snack and a chicken breast for lunch.

Based on the comic book series of the same name, The Boys follows the titular group of renegades seeking to expose the superhero group The Seven and their abuses of power funded by the multibillion-dollar conglomerate Vought.
Starr plays Homelander, leader of The Seven and the strongest superhero in the world, whose sadistic nature is often concealed from the public.
He recently reunited onscreen with co-stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Chace Crawford and Laz Alonso for the season four trailer.
