Rebel Wilson claims her agents lost ‘hundreds of thousands of dollars’ after she lost 36kg in her ‘year of being healthy’.

In another shocking excerpt from her memoir Rebel Rising, the Pitch Perfect star, 44, accused her agency of wanting the actress to stay ‘fat’ so they could make money.

She explained that her appearance created a ‘million dollar birdhouse’, which some agents didn’t want Rebel to risk losing because of her weight loss.

‘The agency liked me fat because they got hundreds of thousands of dollars in commission for each film where I played the fat funny girl,’ she wrote in her book.

The Hollywood star went on to say she felt trapped by her typecast because while she loved the characters she played, she wanted to star in serious roles too.

‘I couldn’t lose a massive amount of weight because I was in the contracts for that movie,’ she said.

‘You can’t lose, I think it’s not more than 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms), or gain more than 10 pounds. You have to kind of stay at the weight. It’s in your contract.’

Rebel said she had been thinking about ‘getting healthier’ but had to wait until after filming the franchise, which ran over a span of five years.

She said she wasn’t offended by ‘Fat Amy’ and actually loved playing her because she is ‘so confident and ballsy’, but she wanted to be able to play other roles too.

‘I was stereotyped in playing that fat funny friend, which is so hard because I love those roles,’ she said.

‘I love doing the roles. I love those characters.’

‘But then I did want to do more things but I felt like being the bigger girl you’re just more pigeonholed.’
