Gen V Season 2 Bombshell: How Show Will Continue Without Recasting Andre, Eric Kripke Confirms!

Eric Kripke, Gen V’s executive producer, discusses how Chance Perdomo’s death would be dealt in season 2, following the choice not to recast his character.

Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson in season 1, died at the age of 27 in March 2024 after being involved in a deadly motorbike crash. The producers previously stated that the part of Andre would not be recast for Gen V season 2, but that they would restructure the planned plots to commemorate Perdomo and his legacy.

Kripke told TVLine that not only will Perdomo not be recast, but that Andre’s death will be incorporated into season 2. Kripke underscored the tragic nature of Perdomo’s death and the impact it has had on those close to the actor, including the cast and crew. Read Kripke’s comments below:

“First, it’s just so unbelievably tragic, and my heart goes out to his family. We’re not trying to replace him because we can’t. We’re playing the character’s death on the show. So it’s very heavy and it’s really emotionally difficult for the cast. And we’re just trying to honor Chance as best we can.”

Gen V Can Follow The Example Of Another Superhero Story That Faced Real-World Tragedy

Andre’s Legacy Should Be Honored In Gen V Season 2.

“Just as Boseman was not recast in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever , it is the right call not to recast Perdomo and to instead honor him through Andre’s legacy and enduring impact in Gen Vseason 2.”

Another prominent superhero story that faced real-world tragedy, Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, set an example of how to gracefully honor the death of a major star. After the passing of Chadwick Boseman, a new T’Challa was not recast for the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel film. Instead, Wakanda Forever addressed T’Challa’s death in its very first scene, and his powerful legacy and the hole left by his absence were integral to the story and to the arc of Shuri (Letitia Wright) throughout the entire film.

Kripke suggests that Gen V should handle Andre’s death in the first episode, similar to his approach. At the end of Gen V season 1, Andre is imprisoned in a secret institution with his friends Marie, Emma Meyer (Lizzie Broadway), and Jordan Li (London Thor and Derek Luh). The series will need to explain why Andre died and the others are still living. Andre’s death is expected to have a significant impact on the season’s overall narrative, regardless of the outcome.

Dealing with the sadness of losing a friend is likely to be part of Marie, Emma, Jordan, and the other characters’ journeys in season 2. Those fighting against Godolkin University and Vought can do so in honor of Andre, who courageously confronted these corrupt organizations. Instead of recasting Perdomo, it’s appropriate to recognize Andre’s legacy and effect in Generation V season 2, since Boseman was not in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
