‘Zero Chance!’ Is Russell Wilson vs. Justin Fields ‘Competition’ Already Over?
What are the chances of a true Steelers QB competition between a pair of newcomers, former first-round pick,Justin Fields and old-timer Russell Wilson?
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has put voice to the idea, as football tradition calls foe, but …
Steelers reporter Mark Kaboly was asked on 93.7 The Fan to address the quarterback competition concept. He suggested that getting Wilson ready is Job 1 and essentially shot down the idea of Fields beating him out.

“I just don’t think there’s enough time for that,” he said.
So … the chance of Fields winning a “competition”?
“Zero,” Kaboly said.
Maybe, it has been speculated, there is another way to work this. Can Fields do something else? Help in another way?
Wilson says he thinks Fields can contribute to the offense in a similar way that former quarterback Kordell Stewart did here in the 90s.
“Justin is obviously one of the most talented guys in the NFL,” Wilson said. “You know all the things he can do. The player, the quarterback that he is. He’s dynamic. It’s all about us winning. That’s the focus. I think it would strike fear in some defenses, that’s for sure.”
So … “Slash” Fields? Hey, it’s a job. But if Wilson is talking about a job for him like that … maybe that’s another hint at the non-competition.
