Revealed: The Boys Stars Antony Starr and Chace Crawford Open Up About Shocking Dynamics in The Seven!

Antony Starr and Chace Crawford promise new dynamics for The Boys season 4. The pressure on Homelander is increasing as the most powerful superhero in The Boys universe becomes increasingly open about his true self. Following the conclusion of The Boys season 3, the clock is ticking for Butcher and his band of supporters, particularly because the fearless is just months away from dying from Temp V poisoning.

In The Boys season 4, Homelander’s power is rising, leaving Victoria Neuman no choice but to take him down as her stake in the political world increases. Homelander is also still tackling fatherhood in the face of Ryan’s growing pains, and Butcher’s team may still have a shot at using his only remaining humanity. With The Boys season 5 already confirmed, the battle between Vought and Butcher’s team is far from over.

Screen Rant interviewed Starr and Crawford about the events of The Boys season 4, which premieres June 13. Starr and Crawford spoke about The Deep’s new status quo with Homelander now in charge, the ongoing Superman vs. Homelander debate, and the arrival of the new Black Noir.

Antony Starr & Chace Crawford On Changes In The Boys Season 4

Screen Rant: Season 4 of The Boys had me stressed. Antony, how is fatherhood treating Homelander this season? Is he getting the mini-me of his dreams?

Antony Starr: How is Homelander treating fatherhood? I think it’s an interesting thing. I just not long ago realized how selfish he is about the whole thing. I’ve always sort of looked at it as a desperate need for connection and all that. But really this season, if you look at it through one lens, it’s very selfishly about legacy and what he wants his son to be. And it’s a very controlling way; his parenting is quite controlling as much.

There is a very genuine love there, but it’s really mashed up with some horrific parenting choices. Father of the year, he is never going to be, but it is interesting to watch, and it’s really good. What it does that is really interesting is it really puts Ryan into an interesting position where he reaches out to Butcher, and there’s a lot of jeopardy around that. There’s a lot of jeopardy for him around that, so it’s an interesting season.

How The Deep Adjusta To Homelander’s Leadership

Speaking of interesting, The Deep is in a very interesting position right now. Can we talk about where his allegiance lies? How does he feel about Homelander as a leader right now?

Chace Crawford: I think he loves Homelander as a leader. I think that’s sort of the basis of his almost daddy issues. I think he needs this validation from Homelander and always wants to impress him and get his validation from that approval. Yeah, he is still always crossing the lines with the loyalty tests he’s still doing, while also trying to maintain a secret relationship with a hidden octopus in the closet, which is very funny. True love! They were meant to be.

Antony Starr: It can take any form.

Chace Crawford: Yeah, it can take any form. Love knows no bounds. The Deep’s doing good. He has some outbursts this year, but we’re going to deal with it.

Superman Vs. Homelander: Who Wins?

Antony, we recently spoke to Jack Quaid, who said he thought his Superman could eventually take on your Homelander. What are your thoughts on this?

Antony Starr: Oh, really? Is that what he thinks? Here’s why Homelander would kick Superman’s ass. There’s no Kryptonite factor, and Homie would fight so dirty. He’s the [type to go], “Oh, you got me!” as he goes down and then comes up and throws sand in your eyes. He’s the dirty dude, man. Whereas Superman is always like, “Oh, I wouldn’t do that. Oh, there’s innocent children that might get hurt.” Homie’s going to human shield himself with the kids.

Black Noir II, I Think This Is The Beginning Of A Beautiful Friendship

Chace, I’m really loving The Deep’s friendship with Black Noir II this season. Can you talk about that dynamic?

Chace Crawford: Yeah, it was good this year! It was nice because Nathan [Mitchell], the actor who plays him, we were all friends with him. To get to actually have some scenes with Nathan was for me very enjoyable. But it is funny, we’re like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb now that it’s a different Noir. To have that little back-and-forth just was a delight this year, to be honest.

I kind of like to show him the ropes and have that scene where I’m talking about violence. And now I’m remembering, we have [some] funny moments. All that stuff was so much fun for me, and I look forward to it all the time. It was great working with Noir this season, for sure.

About The Boys Season 4

The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son as well as his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.
