Caitlin Clark is one of the biggest names in the WNBA right now, but she is not alone. Chicago Sky rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso are among a handful of other elite prospects who entered the W as rookies in Clark’s shadow. Reese spoke with the media on Saturday regarding a since-deleted post where she clapped back on someone who disrespected WNBA players.
Reese sat down with the Chicago Sun-Times on Saturday and addressed the social media post in question.
“He knows it was directed towards him and whoever is not actually educated on what’s going on in the league,” Reese said about the true target of her post. “There are many different players in this league who have done so much for this league, including myself.”
Reese was addressing Charles Barkley, who recently shared his opinion on the WNBA’s growing popularity, crediting Caitlin Clark for the W’s implementation of charter flights. He pointedly suggested that WNBA players should be grateful for the attention Clark has brought to the league.
“You women out there, y’all petty, man. Hey, LeBron (James), you 100% right hatin’ on Caitlin Clark. Y’all petty. I expect men to be petty because we’re the most insecure group in the world. Y’all should be thanking that girl for getting y’all ass private charters; all the money and visibility she’s bringing to the WNBA. Don’t be petty like dudes,” Barkley said, per Dustin Schutte of Sports Illustrated.
“Listen, what she’s accomplished — give her her flowers. Stop being petty, girls. She brought y’all ass charter (flights), all this money to the table, but y’all being petty like dudes. … Caitlin Clark: Thank you for bringing all that money and shine to the WNBA,” he added.
It’s good to see Reese sticking up for her fellow WNBA players.

Angel Reese wasn’t offended by the physical play.
“You can’t take plays off. There’s no player in this league where you can just sag off or take a play off and be lazy…But I have a coaching staff and teammates that really trust me, and I appreciate their confidence in me,” Reese said in the post-game press conference.
She also issued the perfect response to the foul by Alyssa Thomas.
“[Thomas’ and other players’ physical play] is not just because I’m a rookie. I’m a player. They don’t give a damn if I’m a rookie. I mean, I want them to come at me every day. They’re not supposed to be nice to me,” Reese claimed.
Reese finished the game with 13 points and five rebounds.
The Sky will get a chance at revenge when they host the Sun on June 12th.
