The comedian is mom to daughter Royce, 16 months
Rebel Wilson was beyond excited to become a mom, but there was one thing she didn’t plan for.
In an interview with PEOPLE for this week’s cover story, the comedian and author of Rebel Rising: A Memoir, 44, shares one of the things she wasn’t prepared for after she welcomed her daughter Royce, now 16 months.
“The surprising thing is that you never just walk out of the house and not have plans,” Wilson tells PEOPLE. “You can’t just go, ‘I feel like going to the movie cinema,’ and just walk out of the house. No, no, no.”
“You have to plan what’s happening with the 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢,” she continues. “Is the 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 coming with you? Have the 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢’s meals been prepped? You’ve got to communicate about the 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢’s schedule, when her nap time is, all the things.”
“It’s just that constant responsibility. You literally have to plan everything,” she adds.
Still, Wilson wouldn’t have it any other way and says she was also unprepared for how much joy her 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 would add to her life.
“Obviously, I knew I’d love her so much because I wanted her so much to come into my world. But the love when I see her little face and I go, it’s like so much, you want to eat her,” the proud mom says. “She’s so cute and adorable.”

Wilson also reveals that her daughter had already said her first word. “It shocks me how much she melts my heart,” she says. “When says, ‘Mama?’ Lately that’s her new favorite word and that was her first word ever. It just melts you and you’re like, ‘Aw.'”
“I thought I would be a strict parent, but apparently I’m the opposite,” she adds.
In January, Wilson and Agruma shared a few sweet photos on Instagram while they rang in the New Year. Wearing matching outfits, Wilson and Agruma smiled together as they walked through a backyard while Royce giggled.
“2024’s already GREAT! 😘,” Wilson captioned the carousel of pictures.
