We’ve all seen the viral paparazzi shots of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni filming the highly anticipated adaptation of Collen Hoover’s novel It Ends With Us (controversial costumes and all). Now, however, we’re getting an official first look at the forthcoming film, which is slated to hit theaters on Aug. 9.
Sony Pictures released a series of production stills that capture Lively and Baldoni as the film leads, Lily Bloom and Ryle Kincaid. In one image, Lively and Baldoni (who also directs the film) can be seen singing into microphones in front of a neon blue light. In the image, Lively wears a black cropped tank top underneath a navy cardigan that has slipped off her shoulders as she smiles at Baldoni.

Another photo shows Lively and Baldoni looking into each other’s eyes, and in one shot, Lively is pictured sitting at a table conversing with Brandon Sklenar, who plays Bloom’s high school love, Atlas Corrigan. According to the film’s official synopsis, “While living in Boston, [Lily] meets neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid and believes she may very well have found her soul mate. Soon, however, questions arise about their relationship, and to complicate matters, her high school love interest, Atlas Corrigan, comes back into the picture, putting her relationship with Ryle in jeopardy.”

“Lily resonated with an enormous amount of people, as the success of the book made clear,” Lively told People about her character. “Stepping into a character who’s had such a meaningful impact is an honor to take on.”

“I loved Lily,” she continued. “And I hope that love is felt by those who care about her like I do, and also those who are getting to know her for the first time in this film.” Jenny Slate, who can be seen in one of the stills with Lively, and Hasan Minhaj also star in the adaptation.
