Oprah Winfrey’s longtime partner Stedman Graham says he won’t be ‘defined’ by his relationship with the star – as he shares the secret behind their successful union

Oprah Winfrey’s longtime partner Stedman Graham has revealed what a relationship with one of the world’s most successful media stars is like.

Speaking to The Kyle & Jackie O Show, the author and businessman admitted that, although most people only know him through his relationships, that doesn’t affect how he’s perceived. self.

“I’m very determined about my relationship with Oprah, but it has nothing to do with me,” he declared.

‘That’s how you define me! That’s how you define me, it’s not how I define myself,’ he added.

Stedman explains that seeing themselves as separate from Oprah’s success has allowed the couple to ‘maintain equality in the relationship’.

‘I’m not focused on their development as a way to equalise and create freedom, I’m focused on my own development,’ he added, describing Oprah as ‘unbelievable’.

‘I’m developing a process of continuous improvement every day based on my s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s, talents, abilities, interests and passion. That’s what makes me happy.

‘So I don’t care what you do. I could care less who you are or what you do or what you’ve been able to accomplish, because it has nothing to do with who I am as a person.’

When asked about any arguments the couple might have, Stedman revealed he and Oprah tend to be quite similar.

‘We think the same, we’re in the same business. The difference is, she does it in the air, I do it on the ground, so I’m grassroots,’ he added.

The couple first met at a charity event back in 1986, and have been together ever since, getting engaged in 1992.

‘We want each other to succeed. And I want her to succeed and to be as successful as she possibly can, so I encourage that,’ Stedman told The Oprah Show, as reported by The Oprah Magazine in May 2019.
