Sauce Gardner has sparked fears among Jets fans that the team will fall victim to the ‘Drake Curse’ after he posted a picture with the rapper.
The cornerback, who is entering his third season after two All-Pro campaigns, shared a picture with himself, Odell Beckham Jr. and the Canadian hitmaker to X on Thursday.
And some Jets fans were worried by Gardner’s association with Drake, as the rapper has been known to jinx players and teams he roots for.
‘Bro bro, please stay away from drake, he a curse to all franchises,’ one fan said under Gardner’s X post.
‘Jets season over before it started now,’ another said.

The cornerback later posted a message to X to assuage Jets fans’ fears of the ‘Drake curse’
In response to the concern from Jets fans, Gardner himself said, ‘I told Drake that he should bet on all other 31 teams each week. Relax Jets fans.. we good.’
Drake is notoriously an extremely high-stakes sports bettor, and has lost some massive bets, though his gambling has seen some massive wins as well.
For example, he won $1.38million betting on Gervonta Davis to beat Ryan Garcia last year.
The ‘Drake Curse’, then, refers more to his actual fandom of teams.
Sauce Gardner has been brilliant for the Jets since being drafted by the team in 2022
After he declared he was rooting for Alabama to win the 2019 national championship, the Crimson Tide lost to Clemson, while his favorite college basketball team, Kentucky, has not won a national championship since 2012.
Drake also brought out by Conor McGregor for the weigh-in ahead of his fight vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018 (which McGregor would go on to lose), FanDuel noted, and the rapper also saw Johnny Manziel flop in the NFL after name-dropping him in the song ‘Draft Day.’
Nonetheless, Drake’s hometown Toronto Raptors did win a title in 2019.
