Oprah Winfrey shows off her new svelte figure as she hits the red carpet at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.
The 70-year-old TV host – who admitted to using drugs to dramatically change her body – looked like a billion dollars in a form-fitting purple dress as she arrived at the Shrine Auditorium.
Covering her elegant body with an embroidered number featuring a short sleeve design, the icon flashed a megawatt smile as she took the stage to present the Entertainer of the Year Award to Usher.
She kept her signature raven locks long and loose, adding chic spectacles to the mix for a bit of modern flair during the trophy presentation.
Oprah led a cavalcade of stars at the event, including Quinta Brunson, Halle Bailey, Idris Elba, Taraji P. Henson and more.
Quinta had much to celebrate at the 55th annual gala as she took home the Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series trophy for her hit show Abbott Elementary.
However, it wasn’t the last time she’d take the stage to accept an award that evening, as the series also won for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Other big winners included The Color Purple, which secured the Ensemble Cast prize along with the Breakthrough Creative award for director Blitz Bazawule and Outstanding Soundtrack accolade.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story was named Outstanding Drama Series, while Ava DuVernay won for directing Origin.
Sherri Shepherd won for Outstanding Talk Host, while The Jennifer Hudson Show won Outstanding Talk Show.
The Bear‘s Ayo Edebiri, Chloe Bailey, Keith Powers, Phylicia Rashad and Don Cheadle also shared in the winner’s spotlight.
Oprah’s jaw-dropping appearance comes after she revealed she lost more than 40lbs in recent months.
She now acknowledged that she has been using weight-loss medication for her dramatic body transformation, a reversal from her previous denial of using Ozempic or similar drugs to lose weight.
Draping her trim figure in an embroidered number featuring a short-sleeve design, the icon flashed her megawatt smile while taking the stage to present the Entertainer of the Year Award to Usher .
Last month, she said ‘I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing’ – though she did not name the drug that she uses, and said she was ‘done with the shaming’.
‘The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for.’
The daytime talk show legend said she was coming clean as she was ‘done with the shaming’ after losing more than 40lbs.
Oprah presented Usher with Entertainer of the Year
Oprah revealed she had taken the medication before Thanksgiving as she knew she would have ‘two solid weeks of eating’ and credited the drug for causing her to only gain half a pound rather than eight pounds, adding it ‘quiets the food noise.’
Her NAACP Image Award appearance comes before the ABC premiere of her documentary An Oprah Special: Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution.
Oprah will interview people who have used popular weight loss drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy, as well as professionals with experience in the field.
‘It is a very personal topic for me,’ said Oprah in a press statement quoted by BET: ‘and for the hundreds of millions of people impacted around the globe who have for years struggled with weight and obesity.’
