Incredible’ paramedics save life in front of boxer Anthony Joshua as he arrives at The Sun’s Who Cares Wins awards

BOXER Anthony Joshua witnessed a medical emergency — just as he arrived to pay tribute to NHS heroes.

The two-time world champion was getting out of his car at The Sun’s Who Cares Wins awards as NHS paramedics saved a life right in front of him.

AJ posed with each of the health workers and got chatting to Lojinie Navayogaaragh about her job

He was able to thank the incredible medics who brought their patient back from the brink from anaphylactic shock.

As he praised the amazing five-strong team for their work, they asked him for selfies to show their friends and family.

He told them: “You’re incredible. I could never say no to lifesavers like yourselves.”

The 33-year-old posed with each of the health workers and got chatting to Lojinie Navayogaaragh about her job.

Lojinie told The Sun: “We had our patient stable before we realised it was AJ next to us. As we knew he was OK, there was time to say hello.

“At first we did think it was a setup. How else would someone famous be next to us?”

Onlookers told how the paramedics gave the poorly man oxygen as they brought his breathing and heart rate back down to normal.

AJ, who was in North London to attend The Sun’s annual celebration of healthcare workers and volunteers, said witnessing lifesavers at work brought home how important it is to pay tribute to the NHS.

He said: “It’s pretty mad that they were just outside saving a life. But that’s the NHS innit? They never stop.”

Anthony was joined by celebs including James Corden, Gary Lineker, Rob Rinder, Myleene Klass and Emily Atack at the event, which was sponsored by The National Lottery and hosted by Davina McCall.

It was his second year as an award presenter, which he said was a huge honour.

On NHS workers, he said: “I always think it’s nuts how hard they work. They’re so under-appreciated. We need to remember how important they are.”

AJ added that a family member who suffers from epilepsy has been in hospital in the past few weeks and he was blown away by the care they received.

He said: “You can’t not be grateful for that.”
