- The release of Rebel Wilson’s memoir “Rebel Rising” has been delayed in Australia and the UK.
- Publisher HarperCollins said it was due to Wilson’s promotional tour plans.
- However, Wilson suggested on Instagram that someone else had caused the delay.
Since hitting shelves in the US, Rebel Wilson’s new memoir has been dominating headlines.
“Rebel Rising,” which was released in the US on Tuesday (April 2), sees the actor candidly open up about her life, from her experience of losing her virginity at 35, how Hollywood execs tried to prevent her from losing weight, and the harassment she said she faced from British actor Sacha Baron Cohen.
But while the book is available in the US, its publication has been delayed in Wilson’s native Australia and in the UK.
It was supposed to be released in the two countries earlier this week.
The book’s publisher, HarperCollins, said the last-minute change in publication dates was because of the actor’s plans for an accompanying press tour.
In a statement, a representative for the publishing house told Hello Magazine: “Publication of ‘Rebel Rising’ in the UK and Australia has been moved to coincide with Rebel Wilson’s press tours.”
“Rebel Rising” will now be released in the UK on April 25, but there is no set date yet for its Australian release.
“We’re hoping to be able to share a new publication date in the coming weeks,” a spokesperson for HarperCollins told 9News.
But it will likely be released later than in the UK, per The Sydney Morning Herald, citing a HarperCollins spokesperson, who the publication said declined to comment on any potential legal action by Baron Cohen.

However, posting on social media on Friday, Wilson herself appeared to suggest that the delay was not due to any press tour and that someone else was behind it.
In an Instagram Story featuring a photo of her book leaning against a window, the “Pitch Perfect” actor wrote: “UK & AUS momentarily delayed by a**hole… but not for long.”
Representatives for Wilson did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider, which was sent outside regular working hours.

Baron Cohen has denied Wilson’s claims that he harassed her by pressuring her to get naked and asking her to perform lewd scenes without her prior consent while filming “The Brothers Grimsby.”
In an excerpt from Wilson’s book published by People, Wilson wrote that she was left “scared” by Baron Cohen’s requests.
In a statement to BI, a spokesperson for Baron Cohen said Wilson’s recollection of shooting the 2016 comedy was “demonstrably false.”
Baron Cohen’s team also provided BI with nine anonymous statements from crew members who all said they were present during the alleged incident and that Wilson’s recounting of the events was inaccurate.
Amid the fallout from his feud with Wilson, Baron Cohen announced on Friday that he and Isla Fisher were divorcing after more than a decade of marriage.
