The Grammy-winner opened up to Golf Digest last May about his passion for the sport – which included youthful hijinks involving golf carts.

He said his best friend at the time resided near Orlando’s Bay Hill Club, and they ‘would try to jump golf carts over bunkers,’ adding, ‘We was crazy.’

The music industry professional, who is father to sons Asahd, seven, and Aalam, four, with partner Nicole Tuck, 48, told the outlet that in his passion for the game, he has the name of his sons imprinted on his 8-iron club.

He told the outlet that the sport imbues him with a spiritual feeing as he plays.

‘God gave me life, and he gave me a blessing, and I show my gratitude every single day,’ DJ Khaled told the outlet. ‘I love golf because it’s like my connection with God, too. It’s kind of like my one-on-one time with him.’

In the interview last year, DJ Khaled said that at the time, he had been playing golf everyday, and had been living by the credo, ‘Let’s go golfing!’

He said of the statement, ‘Every day after I wake up and pray, I’m screaming it.

‘If the weather’s beautiful, I jump out on my balcony and scream, “Let’s go golfing!”‘ DJ Khaled said. ‘My kids are running around the house, “Let’s go golfing!” I’m screaming it on my Instagram, “Let’s go golfing!”

The music producer says that playing golf is a major part of his life

The Grammy-winner opened up to Golf Digest last May about his passion for the sport, saying he lives by the motto, ‘Let’s go golfing’

‘I walk outside. I jump in my car, and if I’m at a traffic light, my fans pull the windows down and start screaming, “Let’s go golfing!” If I’m at a concert, they’re screaming, “Let’s go golfing!”‘

The Wild Thoughts artist said that the sport, and the motto, had become part of his life and interactions with others.

‘I want to be clear: This is not a joke,’ he said. ‘Everywhere I go they scream “Let’s go golfing!” It’s just something that comes out of my soul and my heart.

‘It’s a beautiful slogan that came from a true organic space in my life, and you’re gonna see a lot of things with “Let’s go golfing!” You’re gonna see some beautiful things.’
