Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left the Royal Family back in 2020 and made a new life for themselves in America, but King Charles’ former butler believes they could return.
It may have been years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from the Royal Family, but King Charles’ former butler believes they could soon make a permanent return.
The Duke and Duchess of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍 stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 and moved their entire life to Montecito, California. They’ve since issued a number of attacks against The Firm in both their Netflix docuseries and in Harry’s memoir Spare.
It has led to the couple developing a very strained relationship with the Royal Family, but Grant Harrold believes they could still return to the UK. However, he said the Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍es will likely still face some obstacles.

“It’s difficult to say given everything that has gone on and the trust that has been broken down whether they could return as full-time royals, but I’ve always said if Harry did return to the UK, it is possible,” he told The New York Post. Grant, who worked for King Charles for seven years when he was the Prince of Wales, said Harry would need to speak to his brother Prince William.
Harry and William have become estranged in recent years, with the Duke of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍 detailing their strained relationship in his memoir. Harry accused his brother of calling Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive” and alleged William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor” during one explosive fight.
Grant said: “There is so much that has happened over the last couple of years and that needs to be sorted out before the Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍es made a permanent return.” Despite their differences, the former royal butler does believe Harry and William’s relationship can be “healed”.

Since moving to America, Meghan is yet to return to the UK. Harry has made several return trips to his homeland, but his wife has always stayed with their children in their California mansion.
Despite this, Grant believes it’s entirely possible for Meghan to one day bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to the UK in order to “show her support for her husband’s family”. He suggested royal fans may even see the Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍es return to the UK as early as this year.
Grants comments come after a source said Harry wants Meghan and their kids to join him on his future UK trips. They claimed the family visit would help them to “focus on building bridges with the rest of the Royal Family.”
Speaking to OK! magazine, the source said: “He is adamant that he wants Meghan and the children to join him, but I think she may be apprehensive and I think she finds being in the UK very uncomfortable.” They added how there will be “lots of calls and Zoom meetings planned” to try to iron things out before Meghan agrees to return to the UK.
