Drake‘s recent concert in St. Louis was marred by tragedy after two fans were 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed by a reckless driver while making their way home.
A mother and daughter, Laticha Bracero and Alyssa Cordova, were 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed in a road accident in the early hours of February 14 after a driver ran a red light following the rapper’s show at the Enterprise Center.
Footage of the incident obtained by TMZ shows the two women were on a crosswalk when a car speeds into view, goes through a red light and runs them over.
The women were leaving Drake’s concert, which was his second in two nights in St. Louis as part of his It’s All a Blur — Big As the What? Tour with J. Cole and Lil Durk.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department says the mother died at the scene and her daughter later died at a hospital.
Drake has yet to comment on the incident.
St. Louis police allege that suspect Monte Henderson had been speeding in his SUV for several blocks and already drove through several red lights. Other pedestrians were injured in the incident.
22-year-old Henderson was arrested shortly after the crash. He has been charged with two counts of armed criminal action and involuntary manslaughter. It is alleged he was driving over 70MPH.
Henderson has since bonded out of prison after a judge rejected prosecutors’ request to keep him locked up, arguing he was a danger to the community.
A GoFundMe has been created to help with funeral arrangements and transfer of the bodies as the two women had travelled from Chicago for the concert.
Set up by Bracero’s sister, the fundraiser says: “Laticha ‘Lety’ Bracero and Alyssa Cordova come from a close, strong family in Chicago. Lety was a hard working supervisor at Wintrust bank and a dedicated mother, loving sister, niece/cousin.
“Her only child Alyssa was going to college and working part time for Starbucks. Alyssa loved music concerts and although was old enough to travel to concerts on her own, her mom would always escort her. The two were inseparable and shared a strong bond.
“Unfortunately upon exiting the Drake concert in downtown St. Louis, Missouri their lives came to a tragic end when they were struck by a driver.
“The family is currently trying to bring them home and give them the best service possible with hopes to lay them to rest amongst other family members. The family is extremely devastated by this horrific tragedy.”
The fundraiser has has so far raised over $36,000.
