“This is not my usual weight, but it’ll do until I get back to where I need to be,” the retired tennis star said in a new video about her progress
Serena Williams is getting into a groove in the gym.
Since welcoming her second 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 in August, Williams, 42, has been easing back into working out — and documenting the process for her 17 million Instagram followers.
The retired tennis star’s latest video features her executing barbell squats at a lighter weight than usual.
“Alright, I’m getting back into the swing of things,” the 23-time Grand Slam champion said in her Jan. 26 Instagram Reel, soundtracked by “My Name Is” from hip-hop artist Don. “This is not my usual weight, but it’ll do until I get back to where I need to be.”
After a few squats, Williams declared, “Feels good,” with a laugh before placing the barbell back on the rack and letting out a “woo!”
The video comes five months after Williams gave birth to daughter Adira River, who is her second child with her tech entrepreneur husband, Alexis Ohanian. They welcomed their first daughter, Alexis Olympia, in 2017.
The seven-time Wimbledon champion often records videos and takes photos of herself during workouts. In a Dec. 26 Instagram caption, she joked about the amount of time she spends taking selfies.
