Serena Williams voices cartoons

Serena Williams, like millions around the world, is a big fan of the 2005 animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The 23-time grand slam champion shares the love with many and continues to shower the series with love. However, she had a chance no other fan of the show ever received in their lifetime. The Queen of the Court managed to say a few lines in the show.

Williams’ love for the series is still alive in 2024, as one could see in the latest promotional video for the live-action version of the series. Williams donned the Avatar of the main character as she promoted the ongoing series.

In 2005, Avatar was all the rage on TV. While the cartoon was intended for kids, it was loved by people of all ages. Williams became a big fan of the show and appeared in an episode of the series. She was cast as ‘Ming’, a guard at the Capital City Prison in the series. She overlooked Iroh before his eventual escape.

As per a post on Reddit, Williams loved the show when it aired, and her agent contacted Nickelodeon about a possible role. The showrunners, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, cast her as Ming. Her appearance was only an episode long, and her character was shown to love Iroh because he reminded her of her father.

Williams also had a guest appearance in an episode of the sequel of ATLA, The Legend of Korra, where her role is labelled as the female sage. Her love for the series shined brightly back then and shines just as brightly today.

Williams steps up to promote ATLA

Netflix is streaming a live-action version of the series and managed to use Williams’ love for the series to their advantage. The streaming platform shared a video where Williams uses all the powers available to Aang, the main character of ATLA. In the promotional video, Williams steps up to the baseline and jumps to a humungous height with the use of air. She then smacks the ball for a serve and ignites it in flames.

A water barrel bursts, and as she lands, the Earth breaks. Her forehead had the same sign as Aang’s, and there was a similar glow in her eyes. On the tennis court, the symbols of all the elemental nations are shown as well. The promotional video signifies the gist of the series, along with Williams’ love of it. However, will she reprise her role in the live-action series?
